Devlog 1 - The Next Phase of Beyond Space

The Next Phase of Beyond Space

Hey everyone,
It’s been a long time coming, but Beyond Space is entering a new phase.

For a while now, I’ve mostly just been quietly releasing models to those of you following along. I haven’t said much about the game itself — the mechanics, the lore, the direction — and that was mostly by design while things were still evolving behind the scenes.

But that’s changing. Starting now, I’ll be posting more regularly here on the website to share what I’ve been working on: progress updates, deep dives into the game’s systems, lore breakdowns, new model releases, and anything else worth talking about. This blog is now the central place for those updates.

Website Overhaul

The site’s recently gone through a big update. I’ve restructured a bunch of pages, cleaned up the layout, and added some new ones, including this blog.

Model presentation has been updated too. I’ve gone back and improved a lot of the images and descriptions so they’re easier to follow and more aligned with how the models will function in the game.

That said, the store isn’t fully finalized yet. Most of the work is done, but I’m still finishing up some models and polishing things up. That’ll continue over time.

The website will also keep evolving as we approach beta. Each overhaul will make it more feature-complete and resourceful. Breaking things up into phases allows me to release content properly without trying to do everything all at once.

The Road to Beta (and Why It’s Taking Time)

As we get closer to release, the scope of work becomes more and more clear. Beyond Space is a solo project, which means every part of it — rules, books, models, renders, lore — goes through me.

Originally, I’d hoped to hit beta sooner. But realistically, I’m now aiming for Q1 2026. There’s a chance it pushes into Q2, depending on how things go. It could land sooner, but that depends on a lot of variables. These dates are just my best guess based on what still needs to be built.

What’s Left to Finish

There’s still a lot of work ahead. For Edition 1, I need to finish writing seven full books. Each one is packed with content, and each requires writing, revision, formatting, layout, and dozens of custom images and diagrams.

I’m also continuing to develop the model lineup for the beta. There’s still a number of units left to finish, and I want to make sure they’re built to the same standard and ready for gameplay integration.

This is a big project. I want to do it right.

How I’ll Be Sharing Info Moving Forward

Beyond Space has a few different fronts, so here’s how I’ll be presenting information going forward:

  • This Website: This is the primary home for all project-wide updates. Devlogs, big announcements, unit showcases, development breakdowns, and anything related to the overall progress of the game will be posted here. The plan is to have these posts pushed to Discord via RSS so you can get notified when something new goes up.
  • The Discord: The Discord will continue to operate as it has been. I’m around to answer questions about the project or the hobby in general, so feel free to join us.
  • The MyMiniFactory Store: All Tribe-related info will stay on MMF. If it’s about about the MMF store, or anything specific to Tribes, you’ll find it there.

What to Expect Next

Going forward, I’ll be using this blog to keep you up to date.

You can expect:

  • Game system deep dives
  • Faction lore and worldbuilding
  • New model releases and development talk
  • Book progress and gameplay features
  • Honest dev reflections as things move forward

I’ll be posting devlogs frequently — or at least that’s the plan. Some months might be more active than others, depending on workload, but I want to keep the updates flowing and give everyone a better look at what’s happening behind the curtain.

Thanks again to everyone who’s supported Beyond Space so far — whether you’ve picked up a model, shared the project, or just followed along in the background. This is the start of a new chapter, and I’m looking forward to finally showing more of what’s been in the works.

More soon.
Ben
